200' x 85' - brains = freedom

Thank you Bob and Gary.
Between the two of you, you managed to cancel the NHL season. But I don't feel sorry for either of you. Or the owners. Or the players.
The owners are in business to make money. Plain and simple. If they want to spend more than they bring in, let them. Smart business dictates that if you're not making money, you're not going to be in business for long. If the owners don't want to spend a lot of money and the team loses every game, so be it. They want to make money and they'll do it either by outspending other teams and raising ticket prices or by putting a cheaper product on the ice.
The players are playing to make money. That's plain and simple, too. If they think they're worth $10 million a season, let the owners pay them that much or let the owners say no thanks. The big problem I see here are the untalented players who are making a lot of money because they have a name. There are a lot of them out there, making $2 million a season to fight or to skate around looking like they know what they're doing.
I don't feel sorry for a bunch of millionaires, either owners or players. I'm sorry, but I just can't feel sorry for them.
Without advertisers or fans, both groups wouldn't make any money playing or owning. That's very plain and very simple. In 1994, Major League Baseball cancelled the World Series, and they have never fully recovered from that move. No hockey season this year may mean fans will not return to this game. And who's going to pay for advertising on the boards if nobody's watching?
The only ones I can fully feel sorry for are the people who work at arenas, working in concession stands or as security guards. The Zamboni drivers, too.
And the children who will not get to see another great season of hockey.
Greed.
Again, thanks Bob and Gary. For showing me that time with my family is more important than watching the game or keeping up with the standings.
