it's beginning to look a lot like...
christmas.
there, i said it. christmas, christmas, christmas.
now, ask yourself...are you offended? upset at my use of the word "christmas"?
well, you shouldn't be. i don't go looking at other people's blogs for the words "kwanzaa"or "hanukkah" or some other holiday name so that i can get angry. we've become so politically correct in the west that anyone who says anything will have something said or done to them. and i think it's about time we change the way we do things. i think it's time to dump the political correctness altogether.
we don't hear single people complaining about valentine's day. we don't hear childless people complain about mother's day or father's day. so why complain about christmas if you're someone who isn't going to celebrate it?
i think we've all been brainwashed, or we've just decided to accept that we're all supposed to be the same. let's all conform to some standard ideal of what we're supposed to be. no thanks...i don't want to be like anyone else, and i don't know too many people who'd want to be like me. we are constantly being told what to wear, what to listen to, what to read, what to think. and if we don't do as we're told, well, "they" have the medicine that will make us all better.
we have become slaves to corporations and media outlets. we buy our genetically modified foods, wear our sweatshop created clothing, and sit in front of the television playing some soccer game on our playstations, x boxes and gamecubes instead of going to the park with a soccer ball. we believe what we're told without thinking to question it. and those that do question it are labelled as nutjobs.
we get upset because a professional sport is taken away from us, yet in other countries where freedom has been taken away they're not complaining because hockey isn't on. they're wishing they didn't have bombs dropping on their houses. or bullets flying through the kitchen. we get upset because two people who just happen to share the same gender want to get married, even though it will in no way affect us. we get upset because someone cut us off in traffic and even though they may not have even seen us, we make it personal and chase after them.
we need to grow up. otherwise, there isn't going to be anyone left.

strange world...
Capitalists can sell anything. I've seen American flag toilet paper (made in USA!) and a glow in the dark Jesus. I'm surprised I haven't seen much 9/11 based merchandise.
I do feel bad for hockey fans south of the border. They have just about nothing in the way of amateur or collegiate hockey. Up here, there's a game going on pretty much all the time. Last year, there were guys playing in the Canadian Tire parking lot at 11:00 at night every few days. Full teams, too.
Thank you for your comments.
